2nd Annual High School Dance OFF

THE CHALLENGE IS ON FOR 2012

THE CHALLENGE IS ON FOR 2012

Woodside High School's Dance Team, under the imaginative direction of Kim Harvath, reclaimed their first place High School Dance Off title at Carrington Hall in Redwood City on Dec. 3 2011. Their rendition of Hair Spray brought the audience to their feel and filled the judges score sheets with comments like “outstanding, professional, great connection with the audience”.

Tyler MacNiven with his unique humor, timing and good nature once again made him the perfect host of the Dance Off. His on-stage dance lesson with one of the Judges of this year’s HSDO, Gail Stevens (dance instructor at Cheryl Burke Dance studio) motivated his fans to start their own campaign to see Tyler compete on TV’s Dancing with the Stars!

First time contenders, the Advanced Dance Performance and Dance Production students at CSUS (Crystal Springs Upland School) received comments like clear, concise incredibly inspirational from the judges. CSUS’s the Crystal Springs Dancers under the ingenious direction of Maggie Fongheiser took home 2nd place with a unique modern dance! They competed not only against dancers from other Bay Area high schools, but some fabulous dogs put on a show as well.

The Annual HSDO is a yearly benefit for CFTS (Companions for the Soul). CFTS, an AKC accredited Animal Assisted Therapy Organization, mission is to improve the quality of life of animals and people in need such as children, seniors, veterans, and families through innovative Animal Assisted Therapy and activity programs.

The HSDO (High School Dance off) committee founded by Karen “Seiko” Patterson, Kim Harvath and Ginger Mozzetti work year round to bring a fun filled family event for everyone involved on and off stage! This year Anne Robinson & Caitlin Savage joined them to help bring the event up to new levels. The HSDO Committee is already hard at work for next year’s HSDO. Mark your calendar, Dec 1, 2012, the 3rd Annual High School Dance Off!

Congratulations to the tech crew led by Dave “Papa Bear” at Carrington Hall for their remarkable, behind the scenes work; to Christian for bringing the event live to viewers on the internet; third place winners the Sequoia High School Dance team led by Sequoia Alumnus Chelsy Hogue and Sir Francis Drake High School coached by Captains: Nikki Higgins, Vesta Williams & Savannah Sperry for receiving the “Best Rhythm Award” and being proclaimed the BEST High School Dance team in the Tamalpais High School District.

Ginger Mozzetti, the founder and Executive Director of Companions of the Soul extends a special thank you to everyone for helping us help others! Our work is our passion, the stars are the teachers, seniors, students and veterans we are proud to serve,
